What we look for in a new brand

No secret formula. Just a few things that make a story worth telling and worth reading.

Something real and recent

We write about brands that are doing something now: launching, opening, growing, changing direction. A clear date gives readers a reason to pay attention today.

A product people can understand

If we cannot explain what you make in one sentence, readers will struggle too. Simple is not boring. It is respectful of the reader's time.

People with a point of view

The best stories come from founders who can explain why they started, what they got wrong and what they learned. We are less interested in mission statements and more interested in decisions.

Honest claims

We avoid words like best, first or revolutionary unless there is evidence. A modest claim that holds up is worth more than a big one that does not.

Small is welcome

You do not need a big team, funding or press coverage. Many of the stories we like most come from one or two people building something carefully.
