BrainBite wants every child to learn in a way that suits them

BrainBite is a Dutch edtech startup that builds an AI learning platform for children aged 6 and up, with AI mentors such as Einstein and Shakespeare and real tutors alongside, including for children who get stuck in regular education. Lees in het Nederlands: BrainBite wil dat elk kind leert op een manier die bij hem past.
Every child learns differently, but in a class of thirty there is not always room for that. BrainBite wants to change this. The startup builds a learning platform that uses AI to offer lessons that fit each child, so children enjoy learning and teachers save time.
What does BrainBite make?
The platform is for children aged 6 and up. Each child learns at their own level and their own pace. For maths they get help from Einstein, they practise English with Shakespeare, and they explore the world with other well-known historical figures. These AI mentors explain, answer questions and adapt their guidance to the child. If a child needs extra help, a real tutor is available too. In this way BrainBite also wants to support children with, for example, ADHD or dyslexia.
Everything revolves around one idea, the team says: good education for every child. Or, in their own words: learning for every kid.
Who is behind BrainBite?
BrainBite was founded by Sayed Shahidi and Damian Ashworth. Shahidi, founder and CEO, has worked in tech for more than 16 years, including at Nike, KPN and DPG Media. His reason for building BrainBite is also personal: as a child he was out of school himself for a long time, so he knows how it feels when school does not fit you. Co-founder Damian Ashworth is Chief Learning Officer and works as a teacher himself. He makes sure that what the team builds is not only smart but also sound from a teaching point of view. "An AI that can answer a question is not yet a good teacher," the team says. They have been building since 2023, together with a team of experts.
What is new?
BrainBite started with a few school subjects and AI mentors and is now building a much broader platform for children, parents, teachers and schools.
With BrainBite Video, teachers make their own animated video for a lesson in a few steps: they upload their lesson material and get a video they can use in class straight away. PrivateEdGPT is an AI assistant made for education, with which schools use AI for lessons, tests, feedback and policy without losing control of their data. It runs on European AI models, is hosted in the Netherlands and is fully private. With NeuroLift, teachers can better support children with ADHD, dyslexia or autism in the classroom.
The learning platform itself is growing as well. Besides maths and language, new subject worlds such as space, history and economics are being added, and children can be taught by Einstein and more than 55 other historical figures. Human tutors are also available, including tutors with a neurodiverse background. BrainBite is convinced that AI cannot replace human tutors and therefore chooses an approach in which children also get personal guidance.
